This message was paid for by Visit Denmark. It was very dramatic because as any visitor to Central Dublin would have known over the past year,

a tent city, kind of a refugee camp had sprung up along Mount Street which is

the outside of government office the International Protection Office right in the

heart of Dublin and there was a stream of tents down the pavement and then off adjacent

alleyways which at any given day it could be just maybe 10 or 20 or then up to 200

tents of people who are waiting for their applications to be processed

and it become a political, visual eyesore and stain on the conscience of the city and the country.

Rory Carroll is the Guardian's Ireland Correa. on the and police decided to clear away the hundreds of tents where people seeking asylum had been sleeping. It had been their best option while they waited for

the government to process their claims

and provide them with proper shelter.

One morning, just before dawn,

the authorities moved in and they took down the tents and

herded almost all of the inhabitants onto coaches and bust them away.
