1:00.6 | Sure. I was working at the L.A. Weekly at the time when I found out about the case. |
1:07.0 | It was back in 2006, and I was a crime reporter there. |
1:13.3 | I had been there for a few years and basically covered murders and robberies, et cetera, |
1:13.9 | for the weekly. |
1:20.6 | And I also regularly would go over to the coroner's office just to see if he had any cases for me to write about. |
1:22.4 | And on one particular day, I was over there in 2016, early 2016, and he told me about a serial |
1:32.1 | killer task force that the coroner was setting up to look into a series of deaths in L.A. County, |
1:40.9 | and the investigators at the coroner's office had noticed a large number of women who were killed between the years 2002 and 2006. |
1:50.2 | And they wondered if it was the work of a serial killer. |
1:54.2 | And so they wanted to put together a task force to see if any of the cases were linked. |
2:00.6 | And all the cases were women in L.A. County. |
2:04.4 | Some of them were found in dumpsters. |
2:06.0 | Some of them were found in alley. |
2:07.5 | Some of them were found in their home. |
2:09.3 | It was really a real mix. |
