A classic Frank Stockton tale about a griffin ( a winged beast of legend) and a minor canon- meaning an associate pastor/priest who handles the actual job of visiting and teaching the congregation). Our story: A little rural church built centuries ago features a stone likeness of a griffin above the entrance door, and word reaches a Griffin that his likeness is attached to a church. | 1:46.0 | I wanted at all costs to avoid the serious pitfall of illustrating with pictures |
| 1:50.1 | what the author had already, so wonderfully, with words done. |
| 1:56.3 | I hoped, rather, to let the story speak for itself, with my pictures as a kind of background |
| 2:01.9 | music, music in the right style, in the best taste, and always in tune with the words. |
