It was a flat, featureless sheet of grey, exactly the colour of old dishwater.

In the village square, Fergus O'Gold the leprechaun sat on a bench, staring at a gold coin.

Usually he would be polishing it, humming a tune and checking his reflection.

Today, he just sighed.

It's just metal.

He mumbled, tossing the coin into the dirt.

It's heavy, it's cold, and it doesn't even sparkle properly.

What is the point?

Nearby, Sir Chuckle Nugget was slumped against the castle wall.

His ducks were swimming in the moat, but they weren't quacking.

They were just floating, looking like feathery driftwood.

The water is wet.
