Welcome to Home of the Brave. I'm Scott Carrier. I don't know about you, but I've found the news, following the news the past couple of weeks to be taxing my sanity.

0:18.0

Trump put his hands on the glowing orb in Saudi Arabia, the suicide bombing in Manchester, testimony on collusion with Russians,

0:27.0

the people in the stories, the politicians and pundits, the high government officials and the newscasters, they speak with confidence

0:37.1

and look like they have their shit together.

0:39.9

They have fine clothes and the latest hairstyles. It's just I can't understand the sentences

0:46.0

coming out of their mouths how one sentence leads to another and another. I get confused and

0:52.2

it makes me feel like I'm crazy because obviously they're smart

1:36.4

in the mountains of Wyoming to where it joins the Colorado in the desert of Utah.

1:41.1

It was a good trip. I hope you like it.

1:44.1

I have to confess a profound ignorance about what I'm doing.

1:54.0

My preparation for this float trip consisted of buying a canoe and then grabbing a Wyoming

1:59.2

roadmap from a rest stop on the drive up. I've been in a canoe a couple of times and I thought I knew how to make

2:06.0

it turn and go straight and I'd seen the river from several bridges I crossed on other

2:10.8

trips in other years,

2:12.7

and it was always wide and calm and flat,

2:15.4

so I thought I could manage well enough.
