So we've reached 1066.

You all know the story of the Norman Conquest of England, which happens relatively quickly,

although there's a bit of an after tale.

And for the moment, William doesn't focus on invading Wales. He takes a different strategy. What he does is set up

major lordships all along the border and a series of very powerful lords with consolidated power

and large land holdings. They start to take up that invasion on William's behalf, and they're

By 1090, the situation in Wales looks very challenging, and it begins to look as though Wales

will go the same way.

Hugh of Chester has invaded through Northern Wales, the Roger of Shrewsby has

invaded through Central and into Southern Wales. And a whole load of castles have been built at

Chepstone, Monmouth and Carlyan, Gwentin, Southeast Wales has been taken over. But that is not going to be the story.
