Alright folks, welcome to the Kid Colman show where we help you win at work and in life more money more meaning is our goal and all week we've been talking about the dreaded pandemic of burnout.

Oh boy.

Just a quick review by the way if you've only been able to join us for one or two days on the Kid Colman YouTube channel and of course on the podcast you can get all of the episodes we talked Monday about no meaning and purpose in your work as a cause of burnout.

We talked about being overworked simply overwhelmed on Tuesday. We talked about under appreciation not being recognized for you your unique contribution on Thursday and today we're gonna talk about

the toxic work environment. Yeah.

Negativity that is unruly uncontrolled that's what we're talking about. We're gonna go further to define this but I want you to understand that the toxicity that we're gonna outline in moments can crush your spirit to the point that you can be so confused by the fact that you go wait a second.

I can't you say that if I if I use what I do best my talent to do work that I really love passion to create results that matter deeply to me they're missional when that happens I'm in my sweet spot and that's true.

But do you know that you could be in your sweet spot but being a really crappy culture and it can just sap you.

This happens more than you realize and it creates confusion because you go wait a second something doesn't I love the work but I don't want to be here anymore.

And the reality is is that's because our environment in which we do the work is crucial to meaning and money got to have it all got to be in your sweet spot in a sweet spot.

A sweet place how about that never said that before but that's what it boils down to you want to be happy at work being your sweet spot in a sweet place sweet mean they care about humans.

All right so let's get into this we're not talking about by the way and boy we live in a day and age where we get so irritated and we're just so coddled to that any minor annoyance.

We can tend to go what's toxic no it's not.

Don't act like my teenagers what am I talking about the most popular word in the Coleman House is annoying there's so annoying my teachers annoying dad you're being annoying that person is so annoying they've ruined the word for me.

It's a buzz word for teenagers today I don't know what it's going to be 10 years from now but I'm telling you today's teenager their buzz word is annoying.

Which makes me want to be annoying.

You know that's how we get that's how we build up tolerance to things you know I was allergic to dust when I was a kid you know what they did gave me shots for three years.

Every week I got a little bit more liquid dust so when I hear my kids are about how everything is annoying I just want to be annoying all right I'm going to annoy you some more you don't even know what annoying really is let me model it for you all right but I digress so I'm making my point aren't am I not.

What I talking about minor annoyances and discomforts and you can't call that toxic there's a difference between let's just use medicine as an example all right.

All right when I was a kid the nastiest medicine in the world was KO pectate something like that you know or milk of magnesia or old school robot us and when they didn't try to put any sugar it it just tasted awful now that is what we can call an annoyance.
