We spent an hour on this segment, but we had to

break it up into three parts. So here's the first of the segments where we talked about the history

of tariffs in America. Because my whole perception was that we've never had tariffs, except for one

time, Smoot Hawley, and that caused the Great Depression. But that's not right.

The very first thing we ever did is a country.

The very first bill ever passed by Congress was a tariff bill.

And we've had it for most of our history.

So we're just going back to what we've always had.

So we shared the history of it.

And then we got into some more of the technical stuff with John Carney,

our business editor. But let's start with our segment first on History of Tariffs.

I'm distracted for a second.

So the wife and I and the two oldest kids, we've been up since about two because of the tornado warnings all night. The two younger ones, they slept through it all. So I just went downstairs to go,

say hi to everyone. And the wife and the oldest two are back asleep. And the youngest two,

they're going to be, they're gonna wake up here soon,

and they're very well rested.

So we're about to have a super cell situation of our own

in the house here.
