0:44.0	sensibilities. So what causes those differences in how societies deal with gender over
0:49.2	the long and short term of human history? How do they vary? What are their effects on those societies and most importantly
0:55.3	how can they be changed? Today's guest has some really deep and wide-ranging answers to those questions.
1:01.6	Dr Alice Evans is currently a visiting fellow at Stanford University and she is in the process of writing a book entitled The Great Gender Divergence for Princeton University Press that will explore all of that in detail and which I cannot wait to read.

1:47.5	Okay, so I've been studying gender for over 15 years and then four years ago I started engaging in economic history
1:55.6	and all this fantastic literature about the industrial revolution about how some
