Not that we needed last night to come to this conclusion. Alex Ovechkin, in modern sports

history, is the greatest team sport athlete in the history of this city. You know, if you take

Walter Johnson and Sammy Baugh out of the conversation, because those two are the other two that would be in consideration.

But if we go with modern sports history defined as, let's just say, the last 50 years, the last half century, Ovechkin is number one, no doubt.

The conversation would really be about who's number two.

I'd go with Daryl Green if we're just talking about pro team sport athletes.
