Summary

In this episode of The Grant Williams Podcast, I’m joined by David Fergusson, CEO of Atlas Consolidated in Singapore, for a fascinating look at the disruptive rise of digital banking. From his early days building Hugosave in Singapore to launching Atlas’s HugoHub platform for banks, fintechs, and insurers worldwide, David explains how technology, open banking, and shifting regulations are reshaping the industry. Our discussion highlights how digital platforms slash costs, expand access in underserved markets, and integrate AI to accelerate adoption—all pointing to a future where financial services are more efficient, affordable, and transformative than ever before as David digs into the mechanics of this transformation, sharing how digital platforms cut operating costs, improve compliance, and unlock adoption in markets where legacy infrastructure has historically failed to reach. Every episode of the Grant Williams podcast, including This Week In Doom, The End Game, The Super Terrific Happy Hour, The Narrative Game, Kaos Theory, Shifts Happen and The Hundred Year Pivot, is available to Copper, Silver and Gold Tier subscribers at my website www.Grant-Williams.com.  Copper Tier subscribers get access to all podcasts, while members of the Silver Tier get both the podcasts and my monthly newsletter, Things That Make You Go Hmmm… Gold Tier subscribers have access to my new series of in-depth video conversations, About Time.

1:31.1

Great to see you, my friend. It's been a while. How are you?

1:35.7

I'm very well. It's been years, actually. It has. It's been, it's frightening, actually. We had a lovely Japanese meal in London, but that was, you're right, it's probably two years ago now.

1:39.8

It's incredible how the time flies.

I think it's... You don't look like a man who has been on an entrepreneurial journey. You look rather too hale and hearty for that. Oh, yes, this is what happens. When you eat your stress, you get very hell and hearty. And certainly you've got the scales to prove it. Listen, let's talk about what you're doing, because it's a phenomenal project, as I've said before.

2:01.9

But I guess the smartest thing to do is just to set the stage as to the kind of the things about banking that made you want to do this in the first place.
