| 0:48.9 | feel like they're in a recession? What's going on? Well, all those metrics are baked. You know, |
| 0:54.8 | they reverse engineer all of them. We've talked about the inflation metric before, |
| 0:59.2 | CPI, the consumer price index. This is a basket of goods that change in price over time. |
| 1:06.0 | This metric has been revised, I think, I want to say three to four times in the past 30 or 40 years. |
| 1:12.7 | And a metric that is designed to measure price changes, the government actually decides to |
| 1:18.7 | exclude anything, any particular commodity that's in that basket whose price changes too quickly. |
| 1:25.0 | So if food or energy changes too quickly and causes inflation rate |
| 1:29.4 | to appear too high, they exclude food or energy to manage that number toward what they want it to |
| 1:36.9 | be. So it's basically a bullshit metric, if I may be so frank. I think the unemployment numbers |
