Philippians, the book of Christian joy, and discovering principles to help

There is more to the gospel than just getting saved. Some people have this idea that the gospel

is just to be given to lost people.

I said to some folks recently, actually, every day you ought to preach the gospel to yourself.

And they looked at me a little strangely, but I said, look at yourself in the mirror and say,

you're a sinner, you deserve hell, Jesus loves you. Christ died for you, rose from the dead for you, and lives inside

of you today. That'll do your heart good. Preach the gospel to yourself. Preach the gospel to as many

lost people as you can. And then preach the gospel to other believers. You see, the gospel is not just the

elementary, the foundational.

It is the source, the fountain from which every other good thing flows.

Every good thing grows out of the gospel. The writer of Hebrews talks about things that accompany salvation.

The gospel is still good news for God's people.

So when we talk about the gospel and making a big deal out of the gospel in your home,

it's more than simply making sure every member of the family is saved.

That's the beginning point.

Friend, coming to know Jesus as your Savior is never where it ends.
