Summary

In the Old Testament, God’s people were often promised earthly, physical blessings if they obeyed him. The blessings of land and prosperity were often anticipations of a greater, heavenly reward. In the New Testament, on the other hand, God’s people are not promised wealth or comfort, at least not in the present age. In Mark 10:17–31, Jesus warns us of the danger of treasuring money and making an idol out of it. Our money and our resources should be used for the purpose of his kingdom. David ...

Do not defraud. Honor your father and mother. Teacher, he declared, all these I've kept since I was a boy. Jesus looked at him and loved him. One thing you lack, he said, go sell everything you have and give to the poor,
1:14.5	and you will have treasure in heaven. Then come, follow me. At this the man's face fell. He went away sad because he
1:22.0	had great wealth. Jesus looked around and said to his disciples, how hard it is for the rich to enter the kingdom of God.
1:29.1	The disciples were amazed at his words, but Jesus said again,
1:33.3	children, how hard it is to enter the kingdom of God.

1:38.3	than for a rich man to enter the kingdom of God.
