0:10.0	This day we look back at 2012 when in the wake of an underwhelming election the
0:15.8	Republican Party took a hard look in the mirror and said,
0:19.1	does America like us? So last Tuesday there was a midterm election in this country, right?
0:25.0	Here in 2022 and like all midterm elections a million storylines and spin have blossomed,
0:30.0	but certainly one of the main ones is that the GOP underperformed
0:34.0	especially given the historical forces of how a party not in power does in these
0:38.4	midterms something that we've talked up before so look we've been wanting to do this
0:42.4	episode for a while and now it feels very
0:44.8	resonant. So this is our time to revisit what came to be known as the GOP Growth and
0:50.8	Opportunity Project report, a playbook for how Republicans could win
0:54.6	elections going forward by being more inclusive and respectful a
0:59.0	playbook of course which Donald Trump casually slid into the paper shredder just a couple years later.
1:05.2	But a very interesting moment nevertheless and I wonder if people are starting to think about that
1:10.2	moment now.
