Let's begin in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit.

Amen.

Let's call to mind all those we've promised to pray for.

We all know the story of the Good Samaritan, and we know that it's supposed to have a very basic moral.

Do good to people, even when they don't seem to be your life. And we know that it's supposed to have a very basic moral.

Do good to people, even when they don't seem to be your responsibility.

Even when you don't owe them anything, or when it's someone from a group that considers you an enemy.

Be generous to them and take care of them.

That's what a true neighbor does. And that's a true interpretation of the story, but we have to ask, who shows this trait the most? Who is the most

selfless, the most merciful, the person who always takes the initiative for those in need.

Well, God, of course. God, who has taken mercy on us in the person of Jesus Christ.

The Parable of the Good Samaritan is a story about what we should do for each other,

but it's first of all a story of what Christ has already done for us.

And it's the coming of Christ, the Good Samaritan, that we celebrate at Christmas.

Our Father who art in heaven, hollow it be your name.

Thy kingdom come thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven.

Give us to stay our daily bread and forgive us our trespasses,

as we forgive those who trespass against us and lead us not into temptation but deliver us from you
