I still remember like it was yesterday when I was in Tuscany with some fellow writer friends and I sat across two of them Seth and Nish

Seth talked about an idea he learned from a book that was absolutely rocking his world at the moment, causing him to see everything

differently. And we were about to visit Siena, one of Nishe's favorite cities from her

time in college studying abroad in Italy, and she shared with us a few of her

must-see spots from the fabled city.

And it was a recommendation from someone on Twitter whose name now completely alludes me

where I found my now favorite gelatorea tucked away on a cobblestone road in Florence.

This past summer in Portland, my friend Bethany took me out for donuts, and those little

sugared bundles of joy and that mind-blowing flight of chai, shared, yes flight, and the posture and mission of community, not competition, held by that unassuming local shop, stuck with me for months afterward.

I am craving a honey and sea salt donut right now.

Whenever I get a coffee or lunch with my friend Alia she always has good makeup tips.

A few years ago we sat outside a cafe in Bend, Oregon, and she told me about a particular

eyeliner and how to apply it.

And it changed my amateur makeup routine for the better.

We were sipping beer at the table where Dickens sat as a regular in the oldest pub in London,

and where G. K. Chesterton wrote a letter to Mahatma Gandhi. My friend Aaron said something so simple

but so profound at that table, and it was exactly what I needed to hear at that

exact moment. I pulled out my phone and jotted it down so I wouldn't forget.

And a few months ago a group of 14 of my readers and listeners like Bethany and Stephanie came to my small town here in Georgetown and we sat outside under the stars for late night drinks at the coffee shop behind my house.

There we shared what we were all reading at the moment and I gathered so many book

recommendations to my ever growing list. I almost don't know what to do with myself.
