Welcome back to another Adam Schaefter podcast, and the season is upon us.

And to get started for the 2003 NFL regular season, we are going to be joined by the voices of Monday Night

Football, Joe Buck and Troy Aikman.

This will be their 22nd year together in the booth, which I believe, if my math is correct,

breaks the record that Pat Summerall and John Madden set as the

longest-tenured broadcasting tandem in history. And it'll be their second season with the

SPN's Monday Night Football. They'll be calling the Jets Bills game on September 11th in what will be Aaron Rogers' Jets debut.

Troy Aikman, of course, won three Super Bowl titles as the quarterback of the Dallas Cowboys,

and he tells an interesting story about a place he almost finished his NFL career,

before being inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2006.

Joe Buck entered the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2020 with the Pete Roselle Radio Television Award,

and they will be here to preview the incredible Monday Night matchup that ESPN has,

as well as the upcoming Tom Brady-less NFL season. And with that, let's start

with the first six-pack of the regular season. And the place we're going to start with item

number one is the unbelievable amount of unresolved contractual situations

there are in the NFL heading into the open weekend. Now there are always some, but as we record

this early Tuesday morning, we're still waiting for new deals for Nick Bosa, who's a holdout in San Francisco,

Chris Jones, who's a holdout in Kansas City, Brian Burns, who is a hold in in Carolina

after the Rams offered multiple first round draft picks for him last year,

and then Chicago was interested in acquiring him for the number one overall pick

this past off season before Carolina said no to all offers,

and now they have to pay Brian Burns, not to mention the contractual situations

...
