Father, your faithfulness abounds to us over so many years. We've been through deep waters together.

David and Sally and I, and these folks that I'm about to talk to have been through equally deep waters and you have brought us here.

You haven't let the waters go over our head or the flames consume us. So we thank you. The hearts are full tonight.

And I ask you to come and do the kind of mental transformation where it's necessary in my head and in the heads of everybody here for the sake of being able to impart to children categories of thought, concepts,

views of reality, conceptualizations of what is that they don't have categories for yet.

This is a mystery.

This is a profound mystery.

How children come to understand anything at all from nothing to bad ideas or good ideas,

life controlling ideas that are true or faults.

So we want to be used in this Lord at every level of our investment with them, so come.

And do what needs to be done to maximize the ripple effect of these days in the transformation

of children into Christ-exalting God-centered Bible-saturated oaks of righteousness till the day they die or

you come.

I ask for your help now in Jesus name. Amen.

Whenever we teach children, we must be concerned not simply to indoctrinate them.

So let me clarify just as a kind of protection against anything else I might say being misunderstood, what I mean

by indoctrination which we shouldn't do. By that I mean putting thoughts into a child's head without a

due concern that they should have a good reason for believing them.

Putting thoughts into a child's head without a due concern that they should also have good reasons for believing the ideas that you're

putting into their heads.

In other words, indoctrination tries to preserve a viewpoint

from group to group or from generation to generation without helping each new group or each new generation
