Our guest is award-winning writer, author, columnist, filmmaker, and activist George

Manbiot, who posted the article The Cruel Fantasyes of Well-fed People, the astonishing

story of how a movement's quest for rural simplicity drifted into a formula for mass death, which you can find at his website that's M-O-N-B-I-O-T dot com.

Sure it's nice to think that all we have to do is go back to the land and we can save the world

from not only climate change, but everything else.

However, the reality is that's simply not possible if we plan on continuing to feed a growing population that is miraculously experiencing less hunger despite that growth.

George is a regular columnist at The Guardian. He is the author of several books including

his most recent book, Read Genesis, Feeding the World without devouring the planet,

which was published short, sorry, which was shortlisted for the Wayne Wright Prize and was named

a New Statesman and Spectator book of the year.

It was also a book that was on our short list who featured on last year's show but unfortunately

at the time that it was published.
