I'm Joe Devine and welcome to the Tifo Football Podcast. Today I'm joined by James Montague,

who recently wrote a script for a video on our YouTube channel about Manchester United and the

Glazers and the history of Malcolm Glazer in particular and his children who are now directors

of Manchester United. We talk about Malcolm Glazer in the early

days, when he bought the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, how he managed to get a city in America to

institute a new tax so that they could pay for his stadium. And also we talk a little bit about

the leveraged buyout that Glazer used to buy Manchester United. Really, I want to get a sense

from James as how we can evaluate the Glazer's ownership of Manchester United. Really, I want to get a sense from James as how we can evaluate the glazers ownership of Manchester United.

It's very complex, and the situation at times was incredibly negative for the club, particularly

from a financial perspective.

However, recently, the financial situation has obviously improved, and the glazers have

done a lot of work commercialising and globalising

Manchester United, making them the most valuable football team in the world. So I want to talk to

James about, as I said, how we evaluate their time at Manchester United, and whether or not what

they've done is a good or bad thing, presumably. It's somewhere in the middle most things are.
