I have an Aesop fable for you today.

It's called The Crab and Its Mother.

I'm going to read it and then I'm going to apply this to real life.

Okay, a crab said to her son,

why do you walk so one-sided, my child?

It's far more becoming to go straight forward.

The young crab replied,

Quite true dear mother,

and if you will show me the straight way,

I will promise to walk in it." The mother tried in vain and submitted without remonstrance to the

reproof of her child. Moral of the story, example is more powerful than precept.

Isn't this interesting?

Sometimes it's really easy for us to say you should do this, you should do that,

with children, with friends, with clients, with coworkers.

It happens all the time. We'll say you should exercise or you should stop drinking or you should you know stop smoking or you should try this or try that or write a book whatever it may be. And it's interesting because we think that just

by sharing advice that may be good advice, right, may be valuable, maybe it's very actually useful, helpful information we're sharing.

It's interesting how that doesn't land nearly as much or at all compared to being the example.

Right, showing the way.

This is why I always come back to this statement of success is generous.
