For so many of us this summer, we have anxiously awaited each new episode of season three of HBO series, The Guilded Age, to find out just what is happening to our favorite characters.

We watch Bertha Russell scheme to secure her place in Guilded Age Society, her husband George, jockey for position and dominance in the industrial and financial world,

and we see how Agnes Van Rine attempts to find a new place in a world where somehow the rules have all changed.

In the midst of all of this, many other supporting but deeply rich characters swirl around these major players as the drama and

the social dance unfolds. It's often through some of these supporting characters that we see

most deeply into aspects of the Gilded Age and how it all actually worked. We all have our

favorites, of course, and one of mine is absolutely the former
