In another dimension, the pilot episode of the Twilight Zone wasn't called Where Is Everybody?

But it was called I Shot an Arrow into the air.

Now of course we all recall the episode of the Twilight Zone called I Shot an Arrow into the air

about the rocket ship to crash lands on a seemingly alien planet.

But the pilot we almost got resembles that episode in Name Alone.

This version concerned an intelligent young boy whose father was killed when his homemade rocket ship exploded.

And because of this, the boy is somewhat of a laughing stock amongst his peers,

so he tends to be quite a solitary soul.

And as a result, while he's taking a walk alone one day in the woods,

he finds a wounded alien and the two become friends.

So the boy helps the alien and he's able to leave Earth in his spaceship and head for home.

So because of this, the boy grows up inspired and succeeds where his father failed in becoming an astronaut.

And when he makes it into space, he again meets up with the alien who he helped in the woods.

The title I shot an arrow into the air which came from the first line of a poem about

friendship called The Arrow and the Song

seems to fit this story better than the episode that it actually ended up being the title of.

But that's in another dimension. In this dimension, that version of I shot an arrow into the air

is another example of rod sailing keeping something

that maybe didn't quite work in reserve,
