Hey, Giant Fans. Welcome to The Giant Insider podcast. My name is Jerry Foley. I'm the senior editor of the Giant Insider newspaper. And with me, as always, the beat writer, the Heart of Giants Nation, Big Truss. Woo-hoo, Chris Bizignano. On this day after Christmas, Chris, hope you had a lovely one, you and your family, Giant Nation out there. Hope you guys did as well. But I'd be honest to say, I don't think any of us had as nice for a Christmas as Logan Ryan, no? Yeah, that was some Christmas. Yeah, I'm glad. I hope you enjoyed Jerry, you and your family and everybody else listening. And that was, I just happened to whip up Twitter, you know, after the gifts and all that stuff. I said, let's see if anything's going on. I saw it out. I was like, wow, you know? So quite a Christmas gift for Logan. Pretty, pretty ironic. He acts for like 10 million. Didn't get it. Took a chance of himself, signed the last second with us for like 7 million, right? Yeah. And then winds up getting like 10 million anyway. Yeah, yep. So he bet on himself. It paid off. I think we've talked enough about him, what he brings to his team. You know, not to mention he's a good play. I mean, listen, being a leader, being from the Patriots, Titans, and having a winning pedigree and all that, doesn't mean crap if he's playing like crap on the field. Right, right.

1:11.6

But he's obviously been very good for us. He's very versatile. We know that. He's, look, getting to know him, man, just obviously just to zoom this year, but getting to know him. He's a stand-up dude. He says it like it is. He holds everybody accountable, including himself. Yeah. Real good guy to having a locker room.

1:28.1

I have a real student.

1:29.5

What impressed me.

1:30.5

What impresses me so much about Logan Ryan. He's such a student of the game, man. Yeah, yeah. He knows all these teams. He knows what they're doing. I mean, it's not like he's just like, okay, we got the Ravens this week. I don't know five guys on a team, but I'll look at the film and now I'll get the note of. No, this guy knows everything that's going on. It's amazing. You know, he's a real football junkie besides being a professional football player. But trust me, Jerry, you know, a lot of football players, you know, they don't know what the how it's going on in a league right you know right trust me you know, a lot of football players, you know, they, they don't know what the hell is going on in the league. Right. You know? Right. Trust me, you know. But this guy, he just, he just breeds and eats and drinks football. And the Giants rewarded him. Obviously, we all talked about, right, how much everybody's loved this guy. Yeah. But the Giants have loved him and he rewarded him.

2:18.7

I looked at it like, excuse me, Jerry.

2:20.7

Reward him with a big contract.

2:22.0

Yeah, dude, I looked at it like there were three guys that I wanted to resign.

2:25.5

And we got one of them.

2:26.6

And I don't think all three are realistic.

2:28.8

But we signed one of them, which I'm really happy about and happy for him and the way

2:33.3

you describe him.

2:34.4

And look, I mean, his play on the field is one thing.

2:36.4

But in the Zoom meetings, like you said, he comes off like he, you know, he studies all these teams.

2:40.0

He's a team leader.

3:12.0

This is the guy you need. This is a guy you need in the locker room. It's almost like a, not to get too corny, but he's almost going to kind of represent that bridge from a team that struggled to a team that's going to be hopefully over the next few years in the playoffs. So I was happy for him and I was just happy that it was one of the guys that we wanted and they rewarded him. He's totally deserving. And that, you know, the story you wrote weeks ago, what he went through with his wife. Like, you're just happy for him as a human being. being like what a good guy and good player good for the locker this just makes complete and total sense man yeah yeah um was now look jerry 10 million a year was that a little maybe a little surprised by that

3:19.9

number yeah well two's got i think i think it's two that are guaranteed like 20 millions garren so that's right was that a little surprised about that number yeah maybe a little bit

3:29.9

but yeah i have no problem i really don't i don't have a problem with it and i think it also says a little

3:35.2

bit that look supposedly you know there's gettelman and kevin a kevin abrams and logan's ryan uh logan ryan's agent will work this out you know, there's Gettelman and Kevin Abrams and Logan's Ryan, Logan Ryan's agent who work this out, you know. But, you know, it kind of makes you wonder, right? I know a lot of people out there, they think Gettelman should be fired and he's gone and Marr's going to get rid of him and how could he come back, you know. but I think that's a little bit of a sign like, you know, that Mara gave the go ahead for Gettelman to negotiate this deal, you know? That gettman was not going anywhere. That's a really good point. It's a really good point because two of the things that came from this that I saw on, on Twitter briefly, one was that all of a sudden everybody said, well, what does this mean for Peppers? It's unrelated, completely unrelated. I don't know why that would even come up. But two, that Kevin Abrams had so much to do with this and that if the Giants were to make a move, it would be Kevin Abrams. But I agree with you. I think the fact that they let, basically let Gettleman resign this guy was a sign that he's shaping this team for next year. He's coming back. Yeah. Yeah. I mean, let's, something we don't know where Gettelman is telling Mara, look, I'm done at the end of this year. I'm retirement. I can't do it anymore. Whatever it might be. And now that's why Abrams kind of took the lead on his negotiations right supposedly but if not that to me that's like yeah get him no get him's going nowhere

4:53.4

yeah so yeah i know that's going to upset a lot of people but there's a couple things a lot of people

4:58.4

i think better start getting used to yeah i know the other one yeah you know the other one going

5:03.1

with this right one's going to be get almost going to be back, and Jones is going to be the quarterback. It's a great segue into the next subject, Chris. Perfect job. All right, thanks. But, you know, I'm just saying, I know a lot of people don't want to hear that. You see it on Twitter, and they think they should move on from both. But it's not happening, man.
