When three friends moved into the creaky, uneven rooms of a Stouffville farmhouse, they expected a bit of character — not nightly whispers drifting from the dining room. Not footsteps pacing the hall. Not the feeling of a child quietly standing in the corner, just out of sight.

Then came the name — spelled one letter at a time through a crystal pendulum: J-A-C-O-B.

Months later, as they packed to leave, the ceiling gave up its secret — a small wooden box hidden above the stairs. Inside were marbles, a sports card, and a note written in a child’s careful hand. Two words: Jacob Williams.
