| 0:29.6 | Today we're discussing the expiration of Title 42 in immigration and the deaths of eight people in a shooting in a Texas mall on Saturday. |
| 0:38.3 | We are also going to talk about the coronation, but we're going to talk about it in the context of people in aging offices as they themselves are aging and what that mix of experience and perspective and commitment to institutions looks like and means to us and what questions we're asking about it. |
| 0:57.6 | And then outside of politics, we're going to tell you about seeing the chicks in Las Vegas on Friday night. |
| 1:03.9 | First though, we wanted to remind you that we are in the middle of our biannual premium drive. This is the time of year where we ask you to become one of our premium members through financial support. |

| 2:01.9 | Does politics ever get you down or winds you up? You care about the state of democracy but can hardly bear to listen to the news. |
| 2:09.9 | I'm Raphael Bear. I've been a political journalist for 30 years and I've had more than my share of toxic debates and polarization. |
| 2:17.2 | So I wrote a book. Politics a Survivor's Guide. It tells the story of how we got into this mess and offers hope for a way out of it. |
| 2:25.9 | That's Politics a Survivor's Guide. You're antidote to despair. In book shops now. |
| 2:39.9 | Sarah over the past couple of years we've talked a lot about Title 42. Just a quick review that's a very old public health law that was used during the pandemic to quickly expel people seeking entry into the US without having to consider whether they're eligible for asylum. |
| 2:57.9 | And we've had conflicting court orders about Title 42. Some courts have said you must continue using Title 42. |
| 3:05.9 | Some have said you were wrong to ever use Title 42 in the first place and you should stop immediately. So it's been very controversial. |
