That revelation to come, but we begin with an almost forgotten slice of American history from the 1930s.

As events in Europe unfolded during that decade, there was, understandably, concern about the rise of

Hitler in Germany. Would the continent be propelled into another war? Would America again

be drawn into a conflict on the other side of the Atlantic?

Well, the answers to both those questions, of course, turned out to be yes.
