For the uninitiated, the George Lucas talk show is one of the best times you can have

with your Lumpur Jack shirt on.

Stayed by and starring Connor Ratliffe, the premise is fairly simple.

Retired filmmaker George Lucas, a man who's made a film or two you might have heard of,

has for some reason launched his own talk show with real guests and a real co-host in the

form of the Phantom Ennases standout supporting character Watto, played by Griffin Newman.

GLTS, as I'm going to call it, began life as a regular show that you could only see in

the flesh at the UCB Theatre in New York.

That's where I saw it in December 2019 and I was instantly won over by its oddball combination

of utter deep cut hardcore geekery seat of the pants improvisational comedy and genuinely

good interviews with genuinely interesting if somewhat befuddled guests.

When the pandemic hit in early 2020, the show was recalibrated somewhat and started living

life online in a series of epic shows that have garnered it an army of fans and a series

of high profile guests, one of which Rachel Seglier who takes both boxes co-hosted the

recent Oscars live show all five hours of it.

In fact, Rachel Seglier and I briefly discussed her love of the George Lucas talk show when

she appeared on the Empire podcast a few weeks ago and in the aftermath of that, a connection

was forged between me and the guys behind the talk show, which is why you're about
