I have a fascinating, amazing guest to share with you.

I'm going to just read a little intro. I hope you don't mind Dr.

Stern. I'm just going to say in 2007, Dr. Robin Stern coined the phrase gaslight effect

to explain the long-term effects of repeated gas lighting, and insidious and sometimes covert form of emotional abuse

in which a gaslighter undermines and controls another person by deflecting, twisting, and denying

their reality. Gaslighting can happen in a romantic relationship between family members or even at work.

But in every case, it leaves you constantly second-guessing yourself, unable to make simple decisions, and destabilized from the constant reality shifts.

And I want to say, Robin Stern, Ph, PhD, is a licensed psychologist with over 30 years,

is co-founder and associate director at the Yale Center for Emotional Intelligence. She's the

author of The Gaslight Effect, which I've read and think it's terrific. Thank you. But Robin Stern

has a new guidebook out called the Gaslight Effect Recovery Guide. And so I just skim read it,

and it's terrific.

And I guess the last thing I want to say is, Robin, we met because you invited me on your podcast called The Gaslight Effect Podcast.

the table. Assume my listeners have heard the term gaslight, because we know how popular the term

has gotten, right? And I believe your publisher asked you to update your book after a certain person got elected.

So tell us how you came to become an expert in this subject, please.
