April's arrival brings a fresh wave of change to the garden.

Days stretch longer, temperature steadily rise, and the cheerful chorus of birdsong fills the air once more. With new growth emerging all round, spring finally feels like it's in full swing,

ushering in one of the busiest and most exciting times on the gardeners' calendar.

There's plenty to do, but it's just

as important to pause and appreciate each fleeting moment. Seed sewing is well underway and

window-sills across the UK are brimming with trays of eager seedlings. But don't be fooled by

the occasional warm sunny spell. Summer bedding and tender plants should definitely still stay undercover.

And with frosts a real threat, it's simply too soon to plant them out.

One crop that can go into the ground now though is potatoes.

A staple of the vegetable patch, they're easy and rewarding to grow, yielding a generous harvest by summer or early autumn. Whether you're a seasoned
