Hey folks, welcome back. This is Andy and this is the Port Pearls Almanac. Today we have a special guest, James Holt from the Buffalo Field Campaign.

If you're not familiar with the Buffalo Field Campaign, they're working to protect to

the last of America's wild buffalo.

Since 1997, they've been working to protect the natural habitat of the wild, free-roaming

bison and other native wildlife and stand with First Nations to honor the natural habitat of the wild free-roaming bison and other native wildlife and stand

We talk with James around his work, reconnecting indigenous people with these wild buffalo,

and the role of the government in trying to divide indigenous groups against the best practices for these Buffalo.

My name is James Holt.

I'm the executive director of Buffalo Field

Campaign. Awesome. And what do you guys do? We are the only organization in the field every day of the

year monitoring and bearing witness to the mismanagement of the only continuously wild herd of bison

in North America.

I thought I knew a lot about, or at least like a decent amount about Buffalo and Bison,

before I started digging in, especially when I found your organization.

So first, can you tell us what actually is a buffalo versus the bison we might buy at the

grocery store?
