Hello and welcome to another episode of the fully charged plus podcast. It's going to

0:23.6

be a great episode this and I know you're going to enjoy it. It's been a real joy to make

0:27.7

it. For the last 10 years you know every now and then this topic comes up of you know hydrogen

0:34.9

is the future or batteries is the only answer and blah blah blah and it's with this conversation

0:40.5

is so good it crystallizes those rather ridiculous differences in the sense that we're hugely

0:49.5

reliant on both these technologies being an enormous success in the next 30-40 years. We need both

0:57.6

and they are they are highly compatible they can work with each other very very effectively and

1:05.1

that is the joy of this episode. I just want to briefly state because you know I've been very

1:10.6

skeptical and I don't think wrongly so about hydrogen fuel cell passenger cars and I've always

1:17.7

wanted them to work it's not that I don't want them to I would love them to work but they don't

1:21.6

work at the moment and they really haven't developed to anything like the same extent as battery

1:26.4

electric and nor has the infrastructure for charging them so I wouldn't people say I'm worried

1:30.6

about where I'm going to charge my electric car if you had a hydrogen car you would really need to

1:36.2

worry because there isn't anywhere basically to fill them yet and there may be one day and I'm

1:41.9

I'd be so happy genuinely so have to be wrong but what this discussion today

1:46.9

takes it to a whole new level because it focuses on the clearly the absolute appropriate aspect of

1:53.1

where to use hydrogen technology so today I'm talking to Lars Stenquist who is the CTO of Volvo

2:00.3

trucks now I just want to clarify something because I wasn't fully aware of this but most of viewers

2:06.2

and listeners to this show will be aware that Volvo as we think of it Volvo was bought by

2:12.4

Glee Holdings a Chinese company back in the 1990s well that's Volvo cars it's very specifically

2:19.2

the car part of Volvo Volvo trucks is still wholly owned Swedish company owned and operated by

2:26.9

Swedish people in your actual Sweden based in your actual Gotterberg on the western seaboard
