Summary
Remember when Rick Perry wanted to abolish the Energy Department? And then became the Energy Secretary under Donald Trump? He said after he got there that there was a lot the Energy Department did that he didn't know about. Here's what the Energy Department does: It manages the United States' nuclear infrastructure, administers the country's energy policy and funds scientific research in the field. And it's become even more important today with the passage of the Bipartisan Infrastructure Bill and the Inflation Reduction Act which Authorized billions of dollars relating to energy policy and energy infrastructure. Sitting at the top of the Department is former Michigan governor Jennifer Granholm. Bill talked to Secretary Granholm last week before a live audience at the Hill Center on Capitol Hill.
