Summary

Advanced weapons and sensors are required to prevail in modern combat, but determining how these and the many other pieces integrate into the broader joint fight can become costly.

Tom Wiley, Senior Director Integrated Solutions Modeling & Architecture at Raytheon, a business of RTX, joins us this week to discuss how Raytheon's Rapid Campaign Analysis and Demonstration Environment (RCADE) assists decision-makers in thinking beyond individual systems, enabling them to see the entire operational ecosystem.

This episode builds on two previous shows we've presented, one on radars, one on weapons,

0:27.5

but there is so much more to fielding such a world-class air power and air force than just the

0:32.0

platforms and the payloads. It's figuring out what they need to be and how all those pieces

0:36.5

actually end up fitting together.

0:38.3

That's right, Paco. And the real strategic value emerges when we zoom out and ask,

0:42.4

how does all this integrate into the broader joint fight? And how do we figure it all out?

0:47.1

Well, joining us today to discuss this further is Mr. Tom Wiley, Senior Director, Integrated Solutions,

modeling and Architecture at Raytheon.

Tom, welcome to the show. Thank you. I'm glad to be here and excited to have a chat.

Hey, set the stage for us, Tom. Tell us a little bit about your background and personal experience

1:04.0

in the field we're going to talk about today. Sure. I've been with Raytheon now for 25 years.

1:09.6

I've worked my way up from starting out on air defense systems,

1:13.6

so aircraft were targets for us, and worked my way up in looking at advancing air defense systems,

1:21.6

then moved up into architecting, large-scale solutions. So if you're thinking about how do we defend a portion of a country

1:29.3

or even an entire country, architecting that. And then I've moved into the modeling and simulation

1:35.4

domain and leveraging that to understand how we deliver capabilities that will be game changers,

1:43.1

not just at a product level, but to the outcome of a war for our warfighters.

1:50.0

Okay. Before we dig into what we're going to talk about today for modeling and simulation,
