Of the many people who would attempt to sway the pendulum of the French government in their favor during this chaotic time,

Andre Le Troque was one of the most successful.

Born in Paris in 1884, La Troche was a short but passionate man, well known for his dedication to socialism.

Before his career in politics, he served in World War I, during which he lost an arm.

When he returned home and entered into politics in 1919, he quickly found out that he had a knack for it.

The troche had a sort of natural charisma that people were drawn to, and he loved the feeling the power gave him.

The troche was clever and charismatic, both of which assisted him greatly as he

climbed the political ladder, even during trying times. Combined with his status as a wounded

veteran who was missing an arm, the Troke's natural charm helped him gain traction in the political

world. So, while the decade after World War II would be an incredibly volatile one for French politicians,

the Troquet made it work for him. And by 1954, he had risen to become the President of the National

Assembly, one of the most powerful positions in all of France.

And this is after World War II.

This is after Hitler and his goons had ransacked Paris

and plowed their way through France,

massacring and murdering an uncountable number of French citizens.

So coming back from that would be tough, but La Troque

made it work in his favor. Though he would only hold the title of president of the National Assembly

for one year, La Troque would remain an important member of the French government until

1959, the year that his life and his career would crumble around him. And that's because, like many politicians in France at the time,

the trocate was hiding a deep, dark secret.
