We are going to go through five steps to becoming more like Benjamin Franklin.

And then I'm going to talk about some of my end notes, some of the random notes that didn't

make their way into the main episode.

I'll talk about the love life of Benjamin Franklin and his reputation as a womanizer. I'll talk about some of his more

famous sayings. I'll talk about one of the most often leveled criticisms of Benjamin Franklin,

that he was shallow and not interested in the great questions of life and whether that is a fair

criticism. I'll talk about the invention of the pros and cons decision-making framework.

I'll talk about the musical instrument that he invented and much more. So let's get into it.

Okay, step one is learn to write well. Writing was how Napoleon broke through. It's how

Alexander Hamilton broke through. And you can just add Benjamin Franklin to that list.

Writing is an essential skill for any leader, no matter the domain.

And in the area of writing, you might want to consider teaching yourself in the way that Franklin

did by marking out notes from writing that you admire and want to copy, trying to rewrite it

yourself, and then comparing the two. But no matter what you want to do, maybe you want to be an

athlete, maybe you want to be a scientist, something completely unrelated. And Benjamin Franklin was a scientist, okay? So it's a good comparison.

That no matter where you want to make your mark, how you want to be a leader, writing is a valuable

skill because it allows you to put out your thinking in a one to many direction. So no matter
