Things are about to get weird.

In the book of Daniel, I mean.

I don't know what y'all mean, but Daniel chapter 7, let me read to you a couple quotes from scholars concerning the text we're about to read.

One says, modern commentators agree that Daniel chapter 7 is the single most important chapter in the book of Daniel.

Another author called it the heart of the book.

One said it would be no exaggeration to say that this chapter is one of the most important passages in the Old Testament of our Bible.

And Walvard says this is the most comprehensive and detailed prophecy of future events

to be found anywhere in the Old Testament.

Daniel chapter 7.

And some of you may hear that and go, prophecy, wait a minute.

Ben, you've been telling us stories about Daniel and the

boys, believers in God who survive and thrive in Babylon. What do you mean prophecy? Well, we are at a major

and fascinating pivot point in the book of Daniel. And you see it in verse 1 of chapter 7. It says,

in the first year of Belchazer,

King of Babylon, Daniel saw a dream and visions of his head as he lay in his bed. Then he wrote

down the dream and told the sum of the matter. Now, for those of you have been following along,

you may say, Belchazer, King of Babylon, isn't he dead? I thought he saw the writing on the wall and soiled himself and died.

Like, what are we doing here? And didn't Babylon get replaced by Persia? And that's true.

What we have in Daniel chapter 7 is a flashback to an earlier day in Daniel's life.

...
