Besides the disappearances and murders of Catherine Davis, Cindy Heller, Angela Ewert, and Sarah Koshka,

the four cases that inspired the formation of a Fort Worth police-led task force, the names

of other murder victims were added to the list, including the still-unsolved murders of

Catherine Jackson and Marilyn Hartman.

Over time, when talked about by locals, folks would come to know what you meant if you mentioned the 80s

murders, and those were just a few of the names on it. The final list included about a dozen

teenage girls and young women, most of whom either disappeared or whose bodies were found

in West and southwest Fort Worth.

Limiting the geography apparently prevented the task force from including victims like

26-year-old Christy Tower, who disappeared in the early morning hours of Friday, February 4, 1983,

after working a shift at Billy Bob's honky-tong in the city's stockyards. Her decomposed body

was found more than two and a half months later in far north, Fort Worth. Christy had been

bound and strangled to death with electrical wire. Her case was theorized to be a part of another series of heinous crimes,

dubbed the February slangs by the local press. Christy was left out of the cases that the mid-80s

Special Homicide Task Force would investigate, though her case shared just as many

similarities as any of the others on the list.

And although it can only be presumed that her abduction happened in the parking lot of Billy Bob's,

about three miles north of the heart of downtown, her purse was later discovered in the city's west side.

The area's problem with violence was hardly just beginning in the mid-1980s.

1970s, Fort Worth saw plenty of senseless bloodshed, and going into the new decade, was proving no different.
