| 0:00.0 | This is undaunted life a man's podcast. I'm your host, Kyle Thompson. Let's get into it. Welcome back to The Forging Table. The mission of Undaunted Life is equipping men to pushback darkness with content that forged spiritual, mental, and physical resilience. At the Forging Table, you'll see a group of regular guys forging spiritual resilience by digging into God's word. |
| 0:38.0 | And we're welcoming all of you to come along on that journey with us. That's Dagan, that's Browning. That's Matt Chandler in the flesh. And guys, last podcast, we got through how many words? We got through six words. Six words. But that's like one and a half words in the Greek. So I think we're absolutely like smoking it right now. But, you know, last time I felt like we did a disservice because I evangelize three things, |
| 1:00.7 | four things really in life. The gospel of Jesus Christ, eating meat, Christian metal, and jujitsu. |
| 1:08.1 | Those are the things that I'm basically a walking billboard for. And gosh darn it, |
| 1:11.8 | we just mentioned jujitsu a couple times and we didn't do a deep dive discussion. And I know Browning and Dagan, you were both very, very disappointed that we didn't spend a lot of time talking about the ins and outs of doing Brazilian jiu-jitsu. But for you, Dagan, I heard that, you know, early on in life, you got some early exposure to Jiu-Jitsu and maybe there's a little |
| 1:30.8 | confusion. But for you, Dagan, I heard that, you know, early on in life, you got some early exposure to Jiu-Jitsu and maybe there's a little confusion that happened with that? I did. Well, you know, childhood is a confusing time. It is. Yeah. So, and I was in Bartlesville, Oklahoma, it's where I grew up. Metropolis. Yep. And so I had, you know, you know everybody in town. You go to school with everybody in town. And there were two brothers that took jujitsu. And, but they were also Jewish. And they went to synagogue in Tulsa. So I grew up thinking that they, that they took Jew Jitsu. |
| 2:03.8 | J-E-W, not J-I-U. Yeah. And I was like, I can't do it. I was like, where's the Baptist J-Sit-Soo? |
| 2:09.9 | Like, where are we doing J-Suitzoo for the Baptist? So, you know, and I thought that for a long |
| 2:15.1 | time and I was like, man, they've got like, they, they have finally said, you know, and I thought that for a long time and I was like, man, they've got, like, they have finally said, you know, shine you to all the oppression, all the centuries of oppression. We are not taking it anymore. And by God, they created their own fighting style. Don't mess. Don't mess with the Jews. They will jitzu you. There it is. And then I remember, I was like in the car with my mom. |
| 2:35.7 | I remember the car it was in. |
| 2:36.9 | It was this big blue Buick, and we were in a part of town that I hadn't really ever been down before, didn't remember, and we passed by, what is it, a dojo? What do you call it? It's just like an academy or a gym. And it said whatever the name was, Mr. Gilke, I think was his name. |
| 2:52.6 | And it said karate whatever the name was, Mr. Gilke, I think was his name. |
| 2:52.6 | And it said karate, judo, jujitsu. And it was like, wait. |
| 2:59.2 | Oh. |
| 3:00.8 | Oh. |
| 3:02.9 | Jiu-jitsu. I get it. |
| 3:04.7 | You know, there's a thing with language because, again, and I'm sorry to admit this, but I already admitted it on the show, because I was like two years ago, years old, when I realized that when scripture was talking about being unequally yoked, that it was yoked and not yolked, like egg yolk. You're like, I've been telling you guys to do legs. Yeah, I don't't really understand what that was i didn't understand it was a yoke i was thinking like eggs you know yoke like oh you know we got some bad yoke and some good yoke and so yeah you know sometimes we just struggle but that would be interesting how to because jiu jitsu can kind of be a rough sport how do you keep keep your little hat on? They're like, while you're doing something like that, |
| 3:41.0 | I feel like that would be difficult. |
| 3:42.3 | That's why they created Krahmaga, |
| 3:43.6 | because it's a lot easier. |
| 3:44.5 | Create a fake fighting style and then like, you know, |
| 3:46.7 | just rip their throats out so you don't. The funniest thing about Krahmaga is like, because I, you know, there's a guy that was like telling me. |
