Summary

In the skies over wartime Europe and the Pacific, Allied pilots began encountering something they couldn’t identify — glowing objects that followed their aircraft, evaded radar, and vanished without explanation. Was it a Nazi weapon? Or something from another world?  Recorded in combat reports and wartime newspapers, the Foo Fighter sightings would haunt aircrews long after the war ended, raising questions that were never fully answered. I've told the story before, but in 2013, I was on a commercial flight from Los Angeles

0:08.2

to Kittery, Maine, or whatever the nearest airport was in Maine. I was on my way to Sear

0:14.2

Training, which is the military survival school. Somewhere midway through the flight, somewhere over

0:19.5

the Midwest, I'd have to imagine, maybe the Rocky Mountains, possible.

0:23.6

So I had been watching patches of city lights and town lights and stuff underneath the plane, 35,000 feet.

0:30.6

The lights would go away, it was just complete blackness, like no lights whatsoever.

0:35.4

So possibly the Rockies or some mountain range or something.

0:39.8

And then I started seeing these two lights.

0:42.8

And my first immediate impression when I started looking at them and I was just staring

0:46.3

intently at them was that they were headlights on a car moving through a forest down below

0:51.9

us because it seemed like there was like a flickering of the

0:54.8

lights like something was passing over them. In hindsight it could have been cloud cover, right,

0:59.5

that was causing that. But whatever these lights were, they just continued for a very long time,

1:05.3

like 15, 20, 30 minutes. I'm still looking out the window and there's these lights. My immediate

1:10.2

impression was then,

1:11.2

okay, this can't be headlights because the ground is too far down below us for me to be seeing

1:16.5

headlights. And whatever road that this car is driving on it, it doesn't go this far. So then I thought,

1:22.0

okay, it must be something inside the plane. And I could not make heads or tails of what inside the plane, what light, one of the

1:30.0

little emergency lights on the aisle or something like what could possibly be reflecting at this

1:36.1

vantage point far down below the plane, like 20,000 feet below the plane. I couldn't make sense of it.

1:43.4

And so I wanted a sanity check at least, and there was a

1:45.4

master's arson sitting next to me. I didn't know him. I just met him on the plane and I started chatting with him. So I tapped him on the shoulder. And I said, excuse me, can you, can you please look out the window and double check that I'm not seeing things? I see these two lights down below of the plane. So he leans over me. And he's looking out the window and he's like, yeah,
