Hello, hello New York Rangers fans, and welcome to episode 28 of the Flying V podcast.

I'm your host, Vincent Mercogliano, of the athletic, and we are going to do something a little

different for you guys this week.

It was kind of a spontaneous idea, but I think it's an interesting way to maybe attack

this offseason, which as we all know is going to be a very long offseason for Rangers fans.

So I'm going to be looking for different ways to kind of give you guys something fresh,

even during weeks where maybe there's not a whole lot going on. And it came to my attention earlier this week that

one of the writing contributors for the Blue Shirts banter website, it goes by NYR CHIPP 23,

had written a column in response to my story from last week, which marked the five-year

anniversary of the Rangers making those seismic changes when they fired John Davidson

and Jeff Gordon and promoted Chris Jury.

So I wrote something that was mainly focused on what has happened since those changes,

which is the Rangers having a few years of success and then obviously plummeting the last

couple seasons under jury.

And meanwhile, Gorton landing in Montreal, then going through a relatively quick rebuild and

now being a team that's very much in the mix tied at the time of this recording with the Buffalo

Sabres two to two in the second round of the NHL playoffs, very much an emerging team right now. So

trending into very different directions. And so I kind of

examined a lot of that in a story that I wrote last week. Let's just say Chip took some issue with it.

I do think that once I reached out, basically the way that it all went down was someone I know sent me the story.

Actually, while I was in the grocery store, I kind of tell the story in a little while when you

hear me with Chip. And I ended up reading it. And first wasn't really going to say anything.
