Vincent McCogliano of The Athletic. It is an unusual day for me to be recording. It's Sunday,

March 8th. I honestly can't recall doing many, if any, podcasts in the past on a Sunday, but I've finally had a chance today to catch my breath after the whirlwind that it is covering an NHL team in the lead up to the trade deadline.

This is actually my first day off in a while.

Technically, I guess this is a little bit of work, but this is sort of a quick thing.

I'm squeezing in later in the afternoon after having a nice day with the family. Weather was gorgeous this afternoon. We're getting temperatures into the 60s, pushing 70. That is exactly what I need in my life right now. And I know what my kids need in their life. They've been feeling kind of cooped up in the winter. So got them out for a little bit, but I got a little bit of a window here before we get to dinner and hopefully a relaxing Sunday evening.

Before we roll into the home stretch of the season here, Rangers got a lot of games coming up this week.

I'll be flying to Canada on Wednesday, Winnipeg, and then coming back to the U.S. to cover a game in

Minnesota. So getting ready to hit the road again here soon after it's been a while since I've

been on the road with the Olympic break and whatnot. But I figured this was a good time. I apologize

for not getting this up to you guys sooner.

But last week with the craziness of the trade deadline,

I just didn't want to record an episode and even like talking to my producer, Greg.

It didn't make sense to record on a Wednesday like we usually do with so many things being up in the air.

I could have recorded on Wednesday afternoon and something happens Wednesday night.

And then by the time the podcast comes up on Thursday morning, it's kind of worthless.

So we decided to wait. I was thinking about trying to squeeze it in Friday night, but I'll be honest with you, between my writing responsibilities at the athletic, the Zoom call that we did with Rangers president, Chris Drury,

and my obligations for TV with SNY. I mean, I wasn't done working until like 10.30 at night.
