What is going on New York Rangers fans?

Happy New Year and welcome to episode 11 of the Flying

V podcast. I'm your host, Vincent McCogliano of The Athletic. I am coming to you from my in-laws

den, actually, in Maryland, not too far from Washington, D.C., where I covered the Rangers against the

Capitals on New Year's Eve, kind of took this opportunity to bring the whole family down

here, did a late Christmas with the in-laws, got to spend New Year's Eve here, raced back

after covering the game in D.C. on Wednesday to do a nice New Year's Eve dinner out with the family.

And it's been really nice.

And we also are getting ready for the Winter Classic, which will be coming on Friday in Miami.

And so to kind of divide and conquer, I came down to DC to cover the game,

brought the family down here. I'm actually recording this podcast right now, not only for my

in-laws den, but I'm sitting at this like little play desk that my, my son and his cousins and

all them used to play on, which is pretty funny. But you know how to work with what you got in a

situation like this when you're

recording from the road.

But meanwhile, also on the road is my colleague from the athletic Peter Baugh, who is already

down in Miami.

He will be covering not only the game on Friday, but we'll be covering the practice that

the Rangers are having at the outdoor rink at Lone Depot Park on Thursday afternoon.

So Peter came on just a little while to go to catch up before he headed out to that practice.

And he'll have you locked in on everything that's happening there.
