Hello everybody and welcome to the Focus Group podcast. I'm Sarah Longwell, publisher of the bull work, and this week we're talking Florida.

It used to be one of the swingiest swing states, but now, just like a Florida tourist, it's getting redder every day.

Florida has become a bit of a beacon for conservatives of late.

It's Trump's home state, and it's apparently where he keeps all of his presidential

souvenirs such as the country's top secret national security documents.

It's also home to Trump's biggest potential political rival, Ron DeSantis. The focus group

we're discussing today is comprised of people who didn't vote for Trump in 2016

but did vote for him in 2020. A couple of them voted for Hillary Clinton, but most either didn't vote in

2016, went third party, and then there was one guy who wrote in Marco Rubio. So they're not hardcore

Republican or MAGA partisans.

My guest today is the best Florida man in the national political press corps, Mark Caputo from

NBC News.

So it must not be like laugh out loud funny.

It's just like kind of. No, it was I liked it. Yeah, there's a there's a type of

tree that grows in South Florida called a gumbo limbo. It's red and it peals and that's why it's called

a tourist trade. Ah, yeah. I thought of that incident. Great. So listen, you know Florida, better than most people.

Does Santa's eat out of victory there in 2018, but I suspect the state has changed a lot in the last four years.
