So we're talking this week about this feeling in us, this desire for something.

And I emphasize something because almost no one knows what it is.

So they try to find a million different things to fill it,

but it's this desire for Eden.

You just can't go back.

Martin Lloyd-Jones says this is the story of every civilization.

It is man thrust out, always trying to get back.

This anxiety, this just feeling inside of us that this isn't everything and this can't be it,

but you can't go back.

There's a flaming sword in every direction, keeping you from getting inside that gate.

You can't get past it.

Every time someone encountered God in the Bible,

they fell to their knees. Here's a good list. Genesis records that Abraham collapsed when God spoke to him. Joshua collapsed when he experienced the presence of the Lord. Ezekiel collapsed.

Daniel collapsed. Matthew 176, when God's glory was manifested to Peter, James, and John, all three of these men collapsed to the ground. Paul collapsed. Matthew 176, when God's glory was manifested to Peter, James, and John, all three

Jesus at the beginning of his vision. These people that just fall to their feet. They fall as if

dead. That's the word. The Greek word means to fall from an

upright position. So you're standing and you're just, boom, you're down as if dead. Pretty amazing.
