Summary

Big 12 play has arrived. The Longhorns will make their first road trip of the 2020 college football season this weekend when No. 8 ranked Texas heads to Lubbock to face Texas Tech at Jones AT&T Stadium Saturday at 2:30 p.m. CT. The Longhorns opened as a 17.5-point favorite against the Red Raiders, which marks one of the largest point spreads favoring Texas ever when playing on the road at Texas Tech. But will Tom Herman's team answer the call and prove the dominance the Longhorns showed against UTEP in the 59-3 season opener may be a sign of what's ahead for Texas? On this week’s episode of The Flagship Podcast, Horns247 columnist Chip Brown and managing editor Taylor Estes take a look at the Big 12 opener as Texas looks to add its sixth consecutive win on the road in Lubbock this Saturday. The Flagship opens the show with the latest injury updates out of Austin, including the timetable for wide receiver Jordan Whittington’s return post surgery and Jake Smith’s status entering Saturday’s game. The hosts then turn the focus on what lies ahead for the Longhorns as they take on a Red Raider team that struggled in their season opener and barely squeaked out a 35-33 win over Houston Baptist two weeks ago. Chip and Taylor discuss what they’re looking for Saturday and how Texas can take a page out of the HBU playbook with Sam Ehlinger leading the charge. The Flagship then brings in the weekly segment, ‘Love it or Leave it,’ with this week’s topics addressing if Vegas is giving Texas too much credit with such a significant opening spread, potential conference upsets brewing in the first week of Big 12 play and much more! Catch all of that and more on this week’s episode of The Flagship Podcast. The Flagship Podcast — featuring co-hosts, Horns247 columnist Chip Brown and managing editor Taylor Estes — hits the airwaves twice every week, and centers around all the latest happenings surrounding the University of Texas and college athletics, with big-name guests joining the show on a weekly basis.  — NOTE: SCHEDULE CHANGES FOR THE 2020 TEXAS FOOTBALL SEASON — Chip and Taylor’s weekly commentary will continue to air every Wednesday, both as an audio version and available on video over at the 247Sports YouTube page, however, Monday’s interview episode of The Flagship Podcast will now air every Thursday as Texas makes its way through the 2020 college football season. As a bonus, The Flagship Podcast will also deliver a quick-hitter game reaction show each Monday following a Texas football game this season.
