Summary

Jones says he's frustrated with the lack of player development at Texas the past decade and hopes Sarkisian and Co. can do something about it.

Jones was in Austin during spring football and said, "From the janitors to the athletic director - to a man - they said there was a sense of urgency and discipline."

Jones said Sarkisian's track record of selecting starting quarterbacks and developing them should give Texas fans comfort as Sark prepares to pick either Hudson Card or Casey Thompson to start at QB for the Longhorns.

Count Jones among those who believe sophomore Bijan Robinson is the next big thing at running back for Texas.

On the defensive side of the ball, Jones said someone needs to step up at his former position (linebacker), but has confidence in Sarkisian's defensive staff as well as the talent up front.

Jones has some bold predictions for the 2021 season, including his selection of a team other than Oklahoma to win the Big 12. (Jones also says to watch out for Texas A&M as a possible College Football Playoff team.)

Jones also shares his thoughts on Texas' looming move to the SEC and how "the target on the Longhorns just got larger."

Texas fans won’t want to miss this week’s interview edition of The Flagship Podcast.
