I've been waiting for a very long time to say, welcome back to the first.

We resume after several months, al-Hal-Lamda-Lah, and, subhannal-Lah, we come to a story that is so pertinent to the times.

And in fact, if I was to say that there was one companion that emblemizes Gaza,

it is the companion that we're going to be covering tonight.

To remind everyone, my intention for this season of the first is to go into the children of the

Sahaba who are Sahaba themselves.

So Sahaba, that were the children of Sahaba, whose stories showed up in the story of their parents

as we covered their parents, but now we want to do a deep dive on

their lives and how they outlived their parents and what they experienced uniquely as they

went on in life. And subhallah, I want to start with an image. Imagine you're in Iraq and you

see a man in his 90s.

And there's this scene that many of us might have encountered over a screen

where you see someone that has a gruesome injury on them and you cringe a bit.

And if you see it in person, it's even harder sometimes. What happened to you? What is

this gruesome injury that you see? You're in Iraq and you see this man in his 90s. He's a man

with exceedingly dark skin and he doesn't dye his hair. So he has a full gray beard and gray hair and he

wears a black turban, but he's missing one ear. He takes that black turban off and he removes

his fob, leaving his seruwa so that he could properly do wudu. When he goes to Hajj, he wears an undergarment because of an injury that he suffered, so he has an

excuse by which he wears an under garment under his Ihram.

You look at him and you're not aware of the story, and you see on him injuries on his chest and on his back,

burns, deep wounds,
