Summary

The communion of humanity and divinity in Christ’s divine person can be likened to a marriage. Sin effects a kind of divorce between God and humanity, a break up of the marriage of God and his people. How wonderful, therefore, when the Messiah offers the first sign of his identity and mission at a wedding. This is an indication that the relationship of God and humanity will be transformed, reconciled, and renewed in Jesus Christ.

"...Nation shall be hold your vindication and all kings your glory. You shall be

a glorious crown in the hand of the Lord. No more shall people call you forsaken

or your land desolate." See what he means here. The shame of Israel will be

removed. How shameful that was for them. They were the chosen people, the special

1:32.9

race, and they were conquered and exiled. And all the world will see the beauty of

1:39.7

God's people. Then we find these extraordinary lines. Listen, indeed the Lord will

1:48.4

delight in you and make your land his spouse. As a young man marries a virgin,

1:56.3

your builder shall marry you. Friends, I think in many ways all the biblical

spirituality is contained in those striking words. The one who made the universe,

2:14.4

the great builder, the architect of the cosmos will do what? He will marry his
